Measuring Visual Functions

Whether you need Metropsis ready-to-run visual function assessment unit for clinical research or drug trials, or a fully programmable software tool for vision science, we have the solution.

We've been in psychophysics since the very beginning...

Cambridge Research Systems was co-founded by Professor John Robson FRS, whose many contributions to vision science include psychophysical measurement of the human contrast sensitivity function, neurophysiological investigations into spatial frequency selectivity, and pioneering analytical methods that provide seminal insights into the nature of visual processing.

John is now (mostly) retired. We currently have commercial partnerships with a number of vision scientists including Dr William H A Beaudot (KyberVision Japan LLC) developer of Psykinematixs for Bit# and Display++.

... and we're specialists in colour vision

Our colour discrimination tests are based on our long and valued association with Professor John Mollon FRS, developer of the Cambridge Colour Test. The original Cambridge Colour Test was designed to run on our early visual stimulus generator, the VSG.  We've updated it for every new hardware system we've developed, and it's still available for ViSaGe.

Our in-house Staff Scientist Dr Caterina (Katia) Ripamonti is also a colour vision specialist and retains an Honorary Senior Research Fellowship at University College London, Institute of Ophthalmology and an Honorary Research Fellowship at Moorfields Eye Hospital.

She has developed the Metropsis Visual Function Assessment Unit, which also includes several protocols for testing colour, as well as visual acuity, contrast sensitivity function, and other clinically relevant measurements.

We have over 25 years of experience to share, so please get in touch.
